| New Jersey Senate Majority Leader Stephen Sweeney (pictured), the second-highest ranking member of the New Jersey Senate, has introduced S-2089, the 'New Jersey Consumer Catastrophe Preparedness and Protection Act.' This important bill is a significant step in preparing and protecting Garden State families from the human and financial impacts of catastrophe. The creation of a New Jersey homeowners catastrophe fund would dedicate investment income to those who need it most: New Jersey firefighters, state and local police, EMS-rescue squads, county disaster professionals and flood plain managers. Furthermore, while the bill applies mainly to homeowners insurance, new language permits municipalities and school boards to benefit as well, passing further savings on to property taxpayers. |
